Max Clausen, ex-Floridaman, escaped containment after a series of hurricanes, pandemics, and disastrous politics destroyed his natural habitat and left him adrift on the shores of the San Francisco Bay. Dropped straight into a summer of protests, righteous anger, and collective actions, there was an awakening of anarchic fervor that bled into ever aspect of his life.
Often found among the thrashing masses of the pit or sniping photos from the balcony, he finds inspiration in the likes of Jim Marshall, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and the music which drives him to capture the essence of the moment. This same kind of chaotic energy and DIY spirit he brings to his work is the same he grew to love within the metal and punk scenes.
While studying at the University of Central Florida, he taught himself photography through live music events at house shows, decommissioned barns, and getting an early dose of tinnitus from always being at the front. After a career of odd jobs, photographing weddings, events, and portraits, he finally found his calling in the cramped venues where he felt most at home. Max currently resides in Marin County, but is always willing to travel for shows big or small.
